If you have ever wanted to try to make your own croutons, this is the easiest little recipe out there! You will need a day-old loaf of bread – ideally a baguette or French loaf, but you can use whatever bread you have.
We’re all about maximizing resources and minimizing waste – and this recipe is a sure way to do your part!
- Baguette, day-old
- Olive oil (2 tbsp)
- Salt & pepper to taste (1 pinch)
- Cayenne pepper to taste (1 pinch)
First, preheat your oven to 400 degrees F
Second, cut the baguette or loaf of bread into small pieces (you determine how big or small you want your croutons)
Next, place the bread pieces in a mixing bowl and drizzle with olive oil.
Shake on the spices (cayenne, salt and pepper) and mix well.
Once combined, spread the seasoned bread out in a single layer on a sheet pan lined with parchment and bake for 15 minutes.
How long can I store these croutons?
The croutons should stay safely store in a sealed, air tight bag for up to 3 days at room temperture. If you want to store in a freezer-safe bag, you can store for weeks.
