The Best Beef Burger

The ingredients in these beef burgers are ones you’ll have on hand, and pre-making these burger patties in large batches allows for you to have EASY meal prep, time and time again.

Tips for making beef burgers at home

When choosing your ground beef, we will often buy two packs – one lean and one medium ground for a little bit of fat. This provides a bit more flavour and reduces dryness in the patty.

Take out all supplies needed and prep your workspace to ensure that you are able to wrap these burgers as they are formed.

The raw patties can double as seasoned ground beef for easy-to-grab packs when needed for spaghetti sauces.

Ingredients

  • Eggs (2 )
  • Mustard (Dijon or your favourite type) (1 tbsp)
  • Worchestershire sauce (1 tbsp)
  • Onion, finely chopped (1.5 cups )
  • Garlic, minced (4 cloves )
  • Rolled oats, large or small flake (1 cup)
  • Sea salt (1 tsp)
  • Pepper, fresh ground (1 tsp)
  • Ground beef, lean or mix of lean and medium (4 lbs)

Optional Add-In Ingredients

  • Sauerkraut (1 cup)
  • BBQ sauce (1 tbsp)
  • Spinach, chopped (1 cup)

Other ways to enhance flavour…

Another way to enhance flavour is to carmelize your chopped onions prior to adding to the hambuger mixture.

Instructions

First, in a large mixing bowl, break up ground beef.

Second, add in all ingredients listed above, stirring in as needed.

Third, use a burger patty maker (like this one) for consistent sizing of patties, if available

Fourth, place formed patties on parchment paper and seal securely in a freezer tight bag for future use OR fire up the grill and enjoy immediately!

How to store beef patties

Typically on the day we make beef patties, we keep some out for grilling. For the rest of the patties, they should all be separated using parchment paper (or if you prefer wax paper) for ease of separation when frozen. These stacked patties should be kept in a freezer-quality air tight bag for up to 3 months.
