Equipment

  • Cookie sheet
  • Cookie Cutters (optional)

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • 2 tbsp white sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 4 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp cream of tartar
  • 1/2 cup butter, frozen + grated
  • 1 cup milk

Instructions

  • Sift together flour, white sugar, salt, baking powder, and cream of tartar
  • Grate in frozen butter and mix with a pastry cutter or knife or fork (or your hands) until crumbly
  • Add milk and quickly combine
  • On a lightly floured surface, knead bread gently (only to shape – max. knead 10 times)
  • Roll slightly to reach desired thickness
  • Cut with cookie cutter and place on lightly greased cookie sheet
  • Brush milk on top for better browning
  • Bake at 450 degrees F for 12 to 14 minutes
